"Not the Master of My Own Domain" Recap

It was an eventful evening to say the least on Saturday. The biggest dissapointment of the night was Regulator not acting Fillmaff-ian when he lost 95% of his chips to a flush early. And by the way, who would be better to play the Regulator in "The Regulator Story: How a superior player lost his poker Mojo to crappy players" than a younger, thinner Micheal Lerner?

The Magic Man played 5 hands all night. He couldn't put Darren (ITASCA?) on QQ and his Kojack got pummelled. That took almost half his chips. With the blinds approaching, he looked down on AT, and knew what he had to do. There was already 1500 in the pot when he threw down an intimidating 1525 bet. Sausage Boy called him with A5. Magic was heard to say "Just don't let me get beat by 5s." Shortly thereafter, he was getting beat by a miracle straight draw. All by a guy who can't remember a simple password to a blog site. For the record, Sausage Boy gets demoted to "Little Sausage Boy" if he takes out Magic Man like that again!

After being eliminated, Magic's first thought was "Dammit. Regulator is right." But he quickly recovered, and sat quietly waiting for the inevitable early exit by Musky Boy. However, the joy of seeing Musky Boy eliminated was not to be, as he got a frantic call from home that his basement was flooded.

The worst part of Magic's night was seeing Dead Money headed to the second game, knowing that he couldn't go, and just seeing that $20 flash before his eyes as it walked to Squeaky's house.

So, 12 hard hours of labor later (still not finished) - Magic asks himself...if he could reverse the miracle Straight Draw or the Basement Flooding, which would he choose? If the answer isn't obvious, then you don't know Magic very well.

Who won? Who lost? I don't know, I don't care. I'm still a little bitter about the miracle straight draw, and losing out on the entertainment of a Regulator outburst. Now that I think about it, how can that guy win? He whines and I give him crap, he doesn't and I give him crap. Of course, I give everyone crap so how is that news?

I'll stop rambling here shortly, I promise.

We have nickname issues.

There was a new guy named Brian at the second game. I don't think he warrants a nickname yet. Besides, all I can come up with is Brian.

There was also a guy who drove up from Chicago (!) to play. His name is Allan or Alan or Allen for all I know. This attempt at a nickname is weak, and is possibly grounds for my dismissal from "Nickname Czar." But whenever I thought about him, I thought of Alan Hale Jr. So I will fondly refer to him as Skipper.

We also have Darren who is without a nickname. He comes from Itasca every month to play. That's not not nearly as desperate as Chicago. But I can't think of anything, so please respond to this thread if you have any good ideas.

Welllllll...... it's Allan, as I was corrected late in the evening. Now people are challanged in many ways, with Allan it appears to be that he is unable to deal the cards so that the appropriate side is facing down. So something along those lines would be appropriate. Brian, game two winner seems to have a W-esque ability to win with dominated hands, so there you go. Maybe the Dominator or Mr. Suck-out or whatever. Paul Clarke needs a nickname since he has been around for a couple games now. His claim to fame appears, so far, to be the only player too lose to Darren heads up (so Maybe "Darren's Beyotch").

Squeaky lived up to his nickname by folding his pair of aces to a pair of queens. He played that hand so weakly and meekly that it was an embarrassment to the MPT.

Magic Man did actually dissapear this game. Called away by a flooded basement? Doubtful, after all the patting himself on the back a few months ago for a lucky win he has reverted to old form and, well.....let's just say I think he was scared.

As for Musky Boy....Well what can be said that hasn't already. After developing a big stack in both games early....Thanks Doc (game one) thanks Squeaky (game two).. the cards went cold and he forgot the sage advice that Khyle had given him before "Don't try to Bluff a guy who is only worried about the two cards in his hand". Buuuuuttttttttt, on the upside, Muskyboy does not have a chance to whine about bad beats against him as he can't remember any. So he will have to fall back on poor play as the reason for not winning.

Lucky PP? What can be said. It's not such an easy game to win when you don't get high pockets every other hand and you re-raise all in against two players who called earlier raises with your 33. Oops.

Regulator, well it's too almost painful to watch. In with the best hand in game two only to lose to the board and Brian's Ace Kicker. 8 8 against A 6 the flop pairs Q's with a K and the turn is another K meaning the Regulator's 8 kicker sucks ass.

Some interesting hands on the evening. Both Paul Clarke and Doc calling down Flush draws to big Flop and Turn bets and missing. Losing most of their stacks early. Doc all in with AK on a board of A 9 6 and being called by Brian with A 5 and a 5 coming on the turn. Then on the next hand all in with something like K J against J 9 against Brian again and Brian pulling a nine on the flop and Doc is gone from Big stack to out 5th in two hands.

I'm sure there were other intersting hands and many suckouts by Brian but the real big news, huge by MPT standards was this:

The Curious Kitty, who by the way lived up to his Nickname over and over again, actually raised pre-flop on several occasions. It was amazing to watch. Of course, any players who know the Kitty immediately folded.

How about Flipper for Allan?

I almost feel bad for Paul Clark, he's good, and that's the kiss of death on the MPT.

it was a good play to reraise the new guy who repeatedly called down to the river with two pair on board and him with Jack high. He should have folded his hand had he not had the one good hand preflop (actually had JJ that time). If he folds that hand I beat the A-10 and have the chip lead going on to probably win another one, if not to place for seventh time out of eight. Still, 6/8 is not bad. That is just a sore loser speaking there. This is PP by the way.

Hmm, interesting thought. I was looking at it from a different perspective. Since he called the initial all in by Squeaky, I put him on at least a decent hand (or any Ace). I would have liked your re-raise a little better if it was against a player who you might get to fold. That way you could have Isolated the short stack. But what the hell do I know, I haven't won since December.

yeah, in retrospect it was dumb because clearly he would call even if he had no hand since he would call bets to river with the board beating his hand, or not even realizing what hand he actually had. I just saw it as a chance to get his chips that he put in. That is why hindsight is 20/20.

oh yeah, by the way who got to take his chips, or did he win.

He won. Allan finished second. Doc made a valiant attempt to take his chips but his AK lost to A5.

Allan here. Thanks for letting me in the game. I can live with "Flipper", I deserve that for my mediocre dealing. I'll keep the cards face down next time, honest. Really, I will...

Mediocre dealing? That was some of the worst damn dealing I have seen since playing with my youngest when he was 7. Mediocre, Ha. We all expect better from you in June.

Per Reg's comment...bewitched sounds a little like bewitching, which sounds kinda....ghey.

Since he looks like both Dicks (Sargent and York) who played him...why not just call him Dick?
